New York Knicks big man Karl-Anthony Towns stated that he wants to be selected for this season’s NBA All-Star Game and, if chosen, plans to suit up for the World Team.
Towns, who joined the Knicks after eight seasons in Minnesota, said the dual objective has been on his mind since the start of the campaign. While the All-Star rosters will not be finalized until voting and coaches’ selections are completed, the three-time All-Star believes his play in New York puts him in contention once again.
The World Team traditionally features international players, and Towns, born in the United States to a Dominican mother, has represented the Dominican Republic in international competition. He reiterated that he intends to do the same at the mid-season exhibition if the opportunity arises.
For now, Towns said his focus remains on helping the Knicks climb the Eastern Conference standings while continuing to make a case for fan and coach support in the All-Star voting process.
