New York Knicks swingman Josh Hart said the team’s postseason disappointment should be pinned on him, not on Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns, and denounced the online criticism directed at the All-Star as “stupidity.”
Speaking on Sept. 30, Hart took responsibility for New York’s playoff failure, telling reporters that any frustration over the early exit ought to focus on his own performance. He then addressed the wave of negative comments that recently surfaced against Towns, calling the attacks unwarranted and “just plain stupid.”
Hart emphasized that Towns had no role in the Knicks’ loss, adding that scapegoating a player from another team made little sense. “Put the blame on me,” he said, reiterating that New York’s shortcomings were “our fault on the court, not his.”
The Knicks were eliminated in the 2025 playoffs after falling short in the Eastern Conference, ending a season that included heightened fan expectations. Hart, who joined the franchise at the 2023 trade deadline, averaged double-figure points and provided key rebounding during the campaign, but acknowledged that his contributions were not enough to advance.
Meanwhile, Towns remained the subject of speculation and online hostility, largely unrelated to his own postseason play. Hart concluded his remarks by urging fans to “be better” and direct their energy toward supporting their own roster.
