WILMINGTON, N.C. — Basketball legend and businessman Michael Jordan is giving $10 million to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center, the Wilmington facility announced Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025.
The contribution will fund a new neuroscience institute that will bear the name of Jordan’s mother, Deloris Jordan. The gift is intended to expand access to advanced neurological care, including treatment for stroke, spine disorders, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and related conditions.
“My mother taught me the importance of compassion and community, and I can’t think of a better way to honor her than by helping to ensure those in need can obtain the most advanced neurological care available,” Jordan said in a statement released with the announcement.
Deloris Jordan is the founder and president of the James R. Jordan Foundation and its international counterpart, organizations that support health and wellness initiatives in the United States and Africa. “It’s humbling to be part of bringing high-quality care to more people in North Carolina,” she said of her son’s donation.
The medical center plans to hold a dedication ceremony for the Deloris Jordan Neuroscience Institute in early 2026.
