Baylor University head coach Scott Drew believes forward Jeremy Sochan could make an immediate impact if the New York Knicks pursue him before the NBA trade deadline.
In comments published on Feb. 22, 2026, Drew told the New York Post that the former Baylor standout possesses the defensive intensity, rebounding instincts and versatility prized by Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau.
“He’s got even more Dennis Rodman in him,” Drew said, invoking the Hall of Famer known for relentless energy on the glass. The college coach added that Sochan’s willingness to guard multiple positions and do “whatever it takes to win” would help him quickly earn the trust of New York’s coaching staff.
Sochan played one season under Drew at Baylor before entering the NBA. Drew said that experience showed Sochan is comfortable in a structured, defense-first system similar to the one the Knicks employ.
New York holds its final roster spot heading into the deadline, and Drew suggested Sochan’s combination of size, athleticism and tenacity would address immediate needs for rebounding and perimeter defense.
