Salt Lake City — Utah Jazz forward Jaren Jackson Jr. had surgery Tuesday to remove a localized pigmented villonodular synovitis growth in his left knee, the team announced.

Team physician Dr. Travis Maak performed the procedure in Salt Lake City. According to the Jazz, Jackson will start rehabilitation immediately and will be re-evaluated in four weeks to determine the next steps in his recovery.

ESPN reported last week that the 26-year-old is expected to miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season.

Utah acquired Jackson from the Memphis Grizzlies on Feb. 3 in an eight-player deal. The growth was detected during his post-trade physical. Since joining the Jazz, he appeared in three games while operating under a medically imposed minutes restriction.

Selected fourth overall by Memphis in the 2018 NBA draft, Jackson is a two-time All-Star and the league’s 2023 Defensive Player of the Year. He has averaged 19.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.4 blocks across 48 games this season.
