NEW YORK — Nike has tapped New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson and Natalia Bryant, the eldest daughter of the late Kobe Bryant, to headline a new spot for the Kobe 3 Protro sneaker released Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025.
The commercial opens inside a Manhattan jewelry store where Brunson tells the clerk he is searching for “something special.” Amid displays of rings and chains, an all-white pair of Kobe 3 Protros draws his attention. Natalia Bryant, polishing the shoes, intercepts Brunson’s attempt to pick them up, quipping, “You reach, I teach.” She quizzes the two-time NBA All-Star to gauge his worthiness before ultimately escorting him out with a buzzer.
Tribute to an MVP Season
The Kobe 3 Protro revives the model Kobe Bryant wore during his 2007-08 MVP campaign. Nike says the updated version honors the late star’s legacy while incorporating modern performance features. Diamond-shaped details on the upper and outsole reference Natalia Bryant’s middle name, Diamanté, marking the most extensive Protro reissue to date.
Brunson’s History in Kobe Sneakers
Brunson is a long-time enthusiast of Kobe footwear. He sported a “Hyper Turquoise” Kobe 6 player-exclusive inspired by the Statue of Liberty during the 2025 NBA playoffs and laced up Kobe 6 Protro “Grinch” shoes while scoring a career-best 61 points in March 2024.
The all-white Kobe 3 Protro hits retail on Saturday, coinciding with what would have been Kobe Bryant’s 47th birthday.
