Knicks guard Jalen Brunson and Timberwolves forward-center Karl-Anthony Towns will join former New York standout Allan Houston on a Knicks-branded squad in a newly restored NBA All-Star Weekend competition, the New York Post reported.
The league is bringing back the yet-to-be-named event during All-Star festivities, and the Brunson-Towns-Houston trio will represent the Knicks when the contest debuts this weekend. Details on the exact format were not released, but past versions of similar events have paired current stars with franchise legends.
Brunson, a first-time All-Star this season, and Towns, a multiple-time selection, give New York a pair of active headliners alongside Houston, a two-time All-Star who spent nine of his 12 NBA seasons with the Knicks and still ranks among the team’s all-time leaders in three-pointers.
The revived competition is part of the NBA’s expanded All-Star programming aimed at adding new elements to Saturday night. Additional participating teams and full rules are expected to be announced before the weekend begins.
