Jaden Ivey publicly challenged the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday, calling team officials “liars” for how they portrayed his recent release.
The guard said the organization misrepresented the circumstances surrounding his departure, which came after a series of widely criticized anti-religion and anti-LGBTQ remarks.
Ivey did not specify which members of the front office he believes distorted the facts, but insisted the franchise deliberately framed the move as a mutual decision rather than a dismissal over conduct.
The Bulls have not issued a new statement since waiving Ivey last week. Their initial announcement cited a need to “maintain a culture of respect” without addressing specific comments.
Ivey’s social-media posts that sparked the backlash included profanity-laced attacks on organized religion and the LGBTQ community. The league has declined to comment on potential disciplinary measures, noting he is no longer under contract.
As of Wednesday morning, Ivey remained unsigned and said he plans to “tell the full story” at a later date.
