Rapper J. Cole says LeBron James was carrying a vinyl copy of his new album “The Fall-Off” before the Los Angeles Lakers’ March 19 game in Miami because the four-time NBA champion wanted it signed for his own collection.
Speaking on Carmelo Anthony’s “7PM in Brooklyn” podcast released March 24, Cole—born Jermaine Cole—explained that he had contacted James ahead of the Lakers’ visit to the Kaseya Center so the superstar could meet Cole’s children. The North Carolina native said his eldest son considers James “No. 1.”
“On his way, he had The Fall-Off vinyl—he brought it so I could sign it,” Cole told Anthony. “Bron graciously said he would do it.”
Cole and his family watched from the stands as Los Angeles defeated the Miami Heat 134-126. Luka Dončić poured in 60 points, while James finished with 19 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists in his 22nd NBA season.
Describing the moment James met his children, Cole called it “the craziest feeling,” adding that the experience gave him a new appreciation for fans who ask celebrities to create special memories for their kids.
The Fall-Off, released Feb. 6 as Cole’s seventh studio project, features 24 tracks and guest appearances by Future, Tems, Erykah Badu and others.
James is averaging 21.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 6.9 assists in the 2025-26 regular season.
