Houston Rockets head coach Ime Udoka unleashed a sharp rebuke of the officiating crew following a controversial ending to the Rockets’ game against the Denver Nuggets, accusing the referees of being “starstruck.”
Speaking to reporters immediately after the final buzzer, Udoka argued that late-game calls were influenced by the Nuggets’ star power and contended that the officiating was inconsistent in critical moments. “The refs were starstruck,” the coach said while expressing frustration over the sequence that closed out the contest.
Udoka’s remarks capped a tense conclusion to the matchup, which saw players and coaches from both sides questioning decisions made in the final seconds. The NBA customarily reviews public criticism of its officials, but the league had not announced any disciplinary action against Udoka at the time of his comments.
