CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Hornets point guard LaMelo Ball is expected to suit up Thursday night against the Houston Rockets after escaping the team’s injury report, just 24 hours after a two-vehicle collision in Charlotte.
Video obtained by WSOC-TV shows Ball’s camouflage-painted, custom Hummer entering an intersection Wednesday before colliding with another car. Footage later captured the 24-year-old All-Star, dressed in an aqua Hornets hoodie, stepping out of his damaged truck and into a different vehicle that drove him from the scene. Police officers were present, but no official report has been released.
The condition of the other driver was not disclosed. Video indicated that motorist exited his car calmly and walked toward Ball’s Hummer, which was missing its left front tire after the impact.
Charlotte enters Thursday’s game having won 10 of its last 11 contests, a surge fueled in large part by Ball’s playmaking. Tipoff against Houston is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at Spectrum Center.
