Free agent center/forward Precious Achiuwa has agreed to a one-year deal with the Miami Heat, according to sources who spoke with ESPN.
The agreement reunites the 24-year-old with the franchise that selected him 20th overall in the 2020 NBA draft. Achiuwa spent the past four seasons with the Toronto Raptors and New York Knicks, emerging as a reliable frontcourt option.
Miami entered the offseason looking to bolster its size behind All-Star center Bam Adebayo. Achiuwa’s versatility at both frontcourt positions addresses that need while adding a familiar presence to head coach Erik Spoelstra’s rotation.
The Heat originally sent Achiuwa and guard Goran Dragić to Toronto in 2021 as part of the sign-and-trade that brought veteran point guard Kyle Lowry to South Florida.
Across 320 career regular-season appearances, Achiuwa has averaged 7.6 points and 5.7 rebounds.
