The Atlanta Hawks announced Saturday that newly acquired forward Jonathan Kuminga will be sidelined for a minimum of one week because of a bone bruise in his left knee.
The injury occurred on Jan. 22 while Kuminga was still with the Golden State Warriors during a road game in Dallas. Atlanta obtained the 23-year-old forward, along with guard Buddy Hield, in Wednesday night’s trade that sent center Kristaps Porziņģis to Golden State.
The team said Kuminga will be re-evaluated following the NBA All-Star break, which begins next weekend.
In a separate update, forward-center Onyeka Okongwu was cleared to play against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday after missing four games because of a dental fracture. Okongwu wore a protective mask during warmups.
