The New York Knicks will start the 2025-26 campaign without two rotation pieces. The club confirmed Tuesday that Josh Hart (lumbar spasms) and Mitchell Robinson (left ankle injury management) will not play in Wednesday night’s opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
Head coach Mike Brown told reporters after practice that neither player participated in Tuesday’s session. “We’ll keep monitoring them and talk with the medical staff,” Brown said. He reiterated that Robinson’s absence is strictly for workload reasons, noting that the center “could possibly go” if the team deemed it necessary after missing significant time last season.
The Knicks also listed Karl-Anthony Towns as questionable with a right quad strain.
Cleveland will be shorthanded as well: Darius Garland (toe) and Max Strus (foot) have been ruled out, while De’Andre Hunter is questionable because of a right knee contusion.
New York and Cleveland are both projected contenders in the Eastern Conference this season. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
