Milwaukee —
Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo is expected to miss one to two weeks after suffering a groin strain, the team confirmed on Monday.
The injury was diagnosed following medical tests that ruled out more serious damage, allowing the Bucks to avoid a lengthier absence for their two-time MVP. Antetokounmpo will begin rehabilitation immediately and will be re-evaluated on a day-to-day basis, according to the club.
Milwaukee, which entered the week near the top of the Eastern Conference standings, will lean on fellow All-Star Khris Middleton and recently acquired guard Damian Lillard to shoulder the scoring load while Antetokounmpo recovers.
The Bucks open a four-game road swing on Wednesday before returning home late next week. If Antetokounmpo’s recovery stays on schedule, he could be back in the lineup before the trip ends.
