The Dallas Mavericks announced Wednesday that rookie forward Cooper Flagg has been diagnosed with a left midfoot sprain and will remain sidelined through NBA All-Star Weekend.

An MRI conducted earlier in the day confirmed the injury, which occurred during Tuesday night’s road game against the Phoenix Suns, according to the team. A club source told ESPN that Flagg is expected to be cleared to play immediately after the break.

Flagg, 19, will miss Thursday’s matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers as well as the Rising Stars Game during All-Star Weekend. Dallas returns to action on Feb. 20 at the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The No. 1 overall pick in last year’s draft has averaged 20.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists this season. During the Mavericks’ current eight-game skid, he is averaging 29.7 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists.
