Fantasy managers navigate Wembanyama’s minutes cap, Towns’ new duties and other key NBA trends

February’s NBA schedule is again highlighting individual milestones. Golden State guard Stephen Curry owns six of his 15 career 50-point outings in this month, with four of his five highest-scoring nights also coming in February, a mark surpassed only by Wilt Chamberlain. Dallas star Luka Doncic, who turns 27 later in the month, has already scored more points before that birthday than all but three players in league history and remains the lone player to average at least 25 points, eight rebounds and eight assists over a career.

Wembanyama’s playing time still capped

San Antonio continues to monitor rookie center Victor Wembanyama’s workload after a left-knee bone bruise earlier in the season. The 22-year-old averaged 27.7 minutes, 23.6 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.2 blocks in January. In 63 career games with 32 or more minutes, he has produced 25.0 points, 12.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 4.0 blocks, yet the Spurs remain committed to a minutes restriction as they eye a deep postseason run, forcing fantasy managers to temper expectations.

Towns adapts during Knicks’ seven-game streak

The New York Knicks have won seven straight after defeating Washington on Tuesday, but forward Karl-Anthony Towns has not topped 20 points in that span. He is averaging 13.3 points on 41.6% shooting with 11.0 field-goal attempts per game. Rebounding has offset the scoring dip—Towns has pulled down 13.3 boards over the last six contests, keeping his fantasy production at 32.1 points per outing. New York has allowed just 95.2 points per 100 possessions during the streak, the league’s best defensive rate over that period.

Jerome capitalizes on Morant’s absence in Memphis

With Ja Morant sidelined by a UCL sprain and trade rumors swirling, guard Ty Jerome has entered the Grizzlies’ starting lineup. Rostered in 45.1% of ESPN leagues, Jerome has delivered at least 34 fantasy points in consecutive games despite a minutes limit, rekindling the form that made him a Sixth Man of the Year candidate for Cleveland in 2024-25 before a preseason right-calf strain.

Poole benched as Pelicans weigh options

Guard Jordan Poole has recorded five straight DNPs for New Orleans while the Pelicans explore trade scenarios. Through 28 games he is averaging 14.5 points, 3.1 assists and 1.8 rebounds on 37.0% shooting, his lowest production since the 2020-21 season. Poole has started only six games this year, and any remaining fantasy value hinges on a potential move to a new team.
