Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo delivered the NBA’s most prolific scoring night in more than six decades on Tuesday, amassing 83 points in a 150-129 win over the Washington Wizards. The outburst trails only Wilt Chamberlain’s 100-point game in 1962 and surpasses Kobe Bryant’s 81-point performance from 2006.

The 28-year-old hit 20 of 43 shots from the field, went 7-for-22 from beyond the arc and converted a record 36 of 43 free throws. Both free-throw figures set single-game league marks. Adebayo entered the night averaging 4.8 free-throw attempts per game and had never attempted more than 20 in a contest.

He opened with 31 points in the first quarter, the highest single-quarter total in Heat history, and reached 43 by halftime, another franchise record. With 62 points through three periods, he passed LeBron James’ previous Miami single-game best of 61 and became just the third player ever to reach 80 points in an NBA game.

Fantasy roundup

Alperen Sengun’s turnovers climb

Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun has committed 24 turnovers over his past four games, most in the league during that span. The miscues have held him to 31.0 fantasy points per contest after ranking as a top-20 option in ESPN standard formats.

Tyrese Maxey sidelined; Oubre and Grimes in line for bigger roles

Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey is expected to miss at least the team’s upcoming back-to-back with a sprained right fifth finger suffered Saturday against Atlanta. Maxey averages 29.0 points, 6.7 assists and carries a 30.6% usage rate. His absence, combined with Joel Embiid’s knee issues and Paul George’s suspension, positions Kelly Oubre Jr. (rostered in 52.3% of ESPN leagues) and Quentin Grimes (34.1%) for expanded minutes and shot volume.

Russell Westbrook still filling stat sheets

Despite the Sacramento Kings’ fading playoff hopes, Russell Westbrook maintains a 28.1% usage rate since Feb. 1 and leads the club in field-goal attempts and assists. The 37-year-old recently became the first guard to record 9,000 career rebounds and is averaging 32.4 fantasy points this season.

Myles Turner’s rebounding dip worries Bucks managers

In his first year with Milwaukee, Myles Turner is grabbing just 5.5 rebounds per game, the lowest average of his 11-season career. Injuries to Giannis Antetokounmpo have forced the Bucks to lean on Jericho Sims at times, casting doubt on Turner’s fantasy value during the playoffs and his long-term role with the team.
