PHOENIX, Feb. 5, 2026 — Draymond Green will finish the season with the Golden State Warriors after the NBA’s trade window closed Thursday, team sources told ESPN.
The veteran forward had been included in preliminary trade concepts with the Milwaukee Bucks centered on Giannis Antetokounmpo, but talks never advanced, according to those familiar with the discussions.
Golden State ultimately shifted its focus to the Atlanta Hawks, acquiring center Kristaps Porzingis in exchange for Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield. Club decision-makers believe Porzingis’ combination of rim protection and three-point shooting will complement Green’s defensive versatility.
Porzingis has appeared in only 17 games this year and has not played since Jan. 7 because of a calf injury. Team officials expect him to be available in the coming days.
Green, 35, acknowledged feeling unfamiliar uncertainty during his 14th season with the franchise but said he bears no resentment for being included in trade talks. “If [trading me is] what’s best for this organization, that’s what’s best for this organization,” he said Tuesday night.
The four-time All-Star holds a $27.6 million player option for 2026-27, the final season of his current contract.
