EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic is considered day-to-day after tests confirmed a left calf contusion, head coach JJ Redick said Monday.

Doncic, 26, left Saturday’s 103-88 defeat to the LA Clippers after taking a knee to the calf from Clippers guard Bogdan Bogdanovic. The 6-foot-8 All-Star did not return for the second half and practiced Monday with a heavy wrap on the injured leg.

“It’s happened a bunch this season,” Redick told reporters, adding that the team is exploring protective options to reduce future collisions.

The Lakers begin a two-game swing at the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday before returning home to face the Houston Rockets on Christmas Day.

Injury updates

• Guard Austin Reaves, sidelined the past three games with a mild left calf strain, participated on a limited basis Monday and remains day-to-day.
• Forward Rui Hachimura, who missed the Clippers game with a right groin strain, is also listed as day-to-day.
• Center Deandre Ayton practiced fully after sitting out two contests with soreness in his left elbow. Ayton said he hyperextended the joint while fighting for a rebound against Suns center Mark Williams in the teams’ last meeting.

No timetable has been announced for Doncic’s return, but the Lakers will update his status ahead of Tuesday’s tipoff in Phoenix.
