New York Knicks forward Mohamed Diawara said Friday he is “not worried” about how his spot in the rotation could change now that the club has added Jeremy Sochan.
The comment came two days after New York completed the move for Sochan, a versatile 6-foot-8 forward whose arrival is expected to tighten head coach Tom Thibodeau’s front-court minutes. Speaking with reporters at the team’s practice facility, Diawara stressed that any adjustment will be “about winning” and that he is prepared to contribute in whatever capacity the coaching staff requires.
Diawara, 24, has averaged 10.4 points and 5.9 rebounds in 27.8 minutes this season. He has started 41 of New York’s 55 games to date. Sochan, 22, was averaging 11.2 points and 6.0 rebounds before the trade.
The Knicks (31-24) open the post-All-Star break schedule next Thursday against Milwaukee.
