AUSTIN, Texas — Phoenix guard Devin Booker logged less than nine minutes Thursday night before leaving the Suns’ 121-94 defeat to the San Antonio Spurs because of soreness in his right hip.

Booker initially stepped out with 5:24 left in the opening quarter while Phoenix trailed 19-16. He re-entered with 4:46 remaining in the second period but stayed on the floor for only 71 seconds, heading back to the locker room at the 2:35 mark and never returning.

“He tried to give it another go,” head coach Jordan Ott said. “We had to pull him — he just wasn’t moving well.” Ott had no further medical update after the game.

The five-time All-Star had recently missed seven straight contests, from Jan. 25 to Feb. 5, because of a sprained right ankle suffered Jan. 23 against Atlanta. He suited up for games versus Philadelphia and Dallas before sitting out Feb. 11 at Oklahoma City for ankle injury management.

Booker, 29, leads Phoenix with 25.2 points per game while shooting 45.5% from the field and adding 4.0 rebounds and 6.3 assists in his 11th NBA season.

The Suns return home to face the Orlando Magic on Saturday at Mortgage Matchup Center.
