The Golden State Warriors plan to have Stephen Curry in the lineup Friday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves after the star guard missed five games with a thigh contusion, head coach Steve Kerr told reporters Wednesday in San Francisco.
Curry remained home during the team’s recent three-game road trip to focus on rest and treatment. He received full medical clearance ahead of Wednesday’s practice, took part in all contact drills and a six-minute scrimmage, and reported no issues. Kerr said Curry is expected to practice again Thursday and, barring setbacks, will be cleared for Friday’s game at Chase Center.
Golden State went 2-3 without Curry and returns home with a 13-12 record after back-to-back road wins in Cleveland and Chicago. The Warriors have kept four of their past five opponents under 100 points and currently hold the NBA’s third-best defensive rating.
Forward Draymond Green, who sat out the last two contests with a foot sprain and missed Wednesday’s workout due to an excused personal absence, is expected back at practice Thursday and could play Friday, according to Kerr.
Veteran center Al Horford is not expected to be available Friday while he continues to manage sciatica.
