Los Angeles Clippers fans repeatedly chanted “F-B-I” during an Oct. 28, 2025 matchup with the Portland Trail Blazers, a pointed jab that followed the arrest of Portland head coach Chauncey Billups in a federal investigation into NBA gambling violations.

The taunts rang out each time Trail Blazers players approached the free-throw line and during pauses in play, according to arena broadcasts. Billups, who was not present on the bench, had been taken into custody earlier in connection with what authorities described as a wide-ranging betting probe involving league personnel.

Neither the Trail Blazers nor the NBA had issued an immediate public response to the chants by the end of the game. Details of the charges against Billups remain under seal while the investigation continues.
