The LA Clippers expect forward Kawhi Leonard to rejoin the lineup in Sunday’s road matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to sources who spoke with ESPN’s Shams Charania on Saturday.

Leonard is sitting out his 10th consecutive game on Saturday as the Clippers visit the Charlotte Hornets. He has been sidelined since spraining his right ankle and foot on Nov. 3 against the Miami Heat.

A source added that the two-time NBA Finals MVP must still complete his pre-game routine on Sunday before he is cleared to play.

Head coach Ty Lue told reporters Thursday that Leonard participated in Wednesday’s practice in Orlando, taking part in non-contact drills and reporting no setbacks.

Injuries have consistently interrupted Leonard’s tenure with the Clippers since he joined the franchise in 2019. He missed the entire 2021-22 season while recovering from a significant right knee injury and was absent for the first 34 games of last season because of issues with the same knee.

Leonard has appeared in six games this season, averaging 24.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists.
