Sam Hauser hit eight three-pointers on his way to 24 points, and the Boston Celtics equaled the NBA single-game record with 29 made threes in a 144-118 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night at TD Garden.

The barrage clinched the Eastern Conference’s No. 2 playoff seed and wrapped up the Atlantic Division title for Boston. The Celtics matched their own mark first set on Oct. 22, 2024, against the New York Knicks; the Memphis Grizzlies (Apr. 6, 2025, vs. Cleveland) and Milwaukee Bucks (Dec. 29, 2020, at Miami) are the other teams to reach the total.

Jaylen Brown returned after missing Thursday’s game in New York with left Achilles tendinitis and supplied 23 points in 29 minutes, sitting out the final quarter. Payton Pritchard added 21 points and 10 assists, while Neemias Queta collected 10 rebounds and knocked down the first three-pointer of his NBA career. Eight Celtics players connected on at least two shots from deep.

Boston, which led by as many as 41, faced a Pelicans lineup without several starters. The Celtics played without Jayson Tatum, who has not appeared in back-to-back games since returning from Achilles tendon surgery and was rested.
