Boston Celtics swingman Jaylen Brown said Saturday that he has entertained the possibility of stepping into professional combat sports once his NBA days are over.
Speaking during NBA All-Star Game media day in Indianapolis, the 29-year-old five-time All-Star revealed that he has held conversations with UFC CEO Dana White—a longtime Celtics supporter—about future opportunities in mixed martial arts or boxing.
“I’ve toyed with this,” Brown told reporters. “Maybe post part of my career, I’d love to partake in something like UFC or even boxing. I’ve talked to Dana White about some stuff, but we’ll see as things go on.”
Brown has a background in Muay Thai and captured the 2024 NBA Finals MVP while helping Boston win its 18th championship. Team coach Joe Mazzulla, himself an avid MMA fan who frequently attends UFC events, often uses fight footage as teaching material for his players.
Brown did not commit to a specific timeline for a potential switch to combat sports, emphasizing that any decision would come only after his basketball career concludes.
