Denver Nuggets forward Cameron Johnson has been diagnosed with a bone bruise in his right knee and will be out for an unspecified period, according to sources familiar with the situation.
An MRI conducted after Tuesday’s 118-105 loss to the Dallas Mavericks revealed no structural damage, the sources said. Johnson went down early in the fourth quarter, limped to the bench and did not return. The team initially listed the injury as a right knee sprain.
Johnson, 29, arrived in Denver in an offseason deal that sent Michael Porter Jr. to the Brooklyn Nets. Through 27 games, he is averaging 11.7 points in 30.6 minutes per contest.
The Nuggets have not announced a formal timetable for his return.
