Chicago Bulls guard Kevin Huerter said he was “shocked” after being thrown out of the Nov. 22 game, insisting the incident that led to his dismissal “wasn’t malicious.”

The ejection came after officials reviewed a play involving Huerter and ruled it severe enough to send him to the locker room. Speaking with reporters afterward, the veteran guard maintained that he had no intent to harm and expected at most a common foul.

“It wasn’t malicious,” Huerter repeated, adding that he did not anticipate a decision that would remove him from the contest.

The call immediately drew scrutiny, with some teammates appearing frustrated as Huerter made his way off the floor. The Bulls had to finish the game without one of their primary perimeter options.
