The Chicago Bulls removed executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley from their posts on Monday, ending a six-season partnership that produced one winning record.

Karnisovas and Eversley were hired ahead of the 2020-21 campaign and guided the club to a 224-254 mark. Chicago’s lone playoff appearance under the pair came in 2021-22, when the Bulls lost a first-round series to the Milwaukee Bucks in five games.

This year the Bulls sit at 29-49 and 12th in the Eastern Conference, ensuring a fourth straight season without postseason basketball. The team opened 2025-26 with a 5-0 start and won six of its first seven contests, but injuries contributed to four separate losing streaks of at least five games.

At February’s trade deadline the franchise overhauled its roster, sending out seven players—including popular guards Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu—in what Karnisovas described as an effort “to get out of the middle.” League sources told ESPN the moves neither boosted Chicago’s lottery chances nor yielded prospects viewed as long-term building blocks. One newcomer, Jaden Ivey, was waived last week after controversial social-media posts covering religion, anti-gay remarks and depression.

Owner Michael Reinsdorf acknowledged the difficulty of the decision but said a change was necessary. “We have not achieved the success our fans deserve, and it’s my responsibility to move in a new direction,” Reinsdorf said in a statement. He added that the organization is “committed to taking the necessary steps” to construct a roster capable of contending for championships.
