Milwaukee, Wis., Apr. 5, 2026 – The Milwaukee Bucks used their postgame social-media feed to remind LeBron James of his recent criticism of the city after defeating the Memphis Grizzlies 131-115 on Sunday.

Shortly after the final buzzer, the Bucks posted a photo from the victory with the caption, “Won the matchup between everyone’s two favorite cities,” a clear nod to comments the Los Angeles Lakers star made last Thursday on the “Bob Does Sports” YouTube channel.

In that video, James, 41, complained about late-season travel, quipping, “A random f—ing Tuesday in Milwaukee staying at the f—ing Hyatt at 41 years old, you think I want to do that s—? Being in Memphis on a f—ing random ass Thursday.” He later suggested the Grizzlies should relocate to Nashville, citing the city’s existing sports infrastructure.

Confronted with backlash on Saturday, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer clarified that Milwaukee and Memphis are currently the only two road stops he dislikes. “I’m not talking about the city, the people in Memphis,” he said. “I don’t like staying at the Hyatt Centric … People need to chill out.”

The Lakers have already completed this season’s visits to both cities, winning each game, and will not return during the spring schedule.

Local reactions

Grizzlies head coach Thomas Iisalo defended Memphis on Friday, calling the city “warm and welcoming.” Bucks coach Doc Rivers, who attended college in Milwaukee, praised the city’s growth since his playing days, then jokingly offered a solution: “I think we should trade for him. Let him see Milwaukee and I think he would change his tune. I’ma get fined for saying that.”
