Milwaukee Bucks guard Kevin Porter Jr. had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Tuesday in Vail, Colorado, and will miss the rest of the 2025-26 season, the team announced.
The procedure was performed by Dr. Tom Hackett at The Steadman Clinic, according to the Bucks. No timetable for Porter’s recovery was provided.
Head coach Doc Rivers said the injury dates back to the opening minutes of Milwaukee’s first game of the season. “It started eight minutes into the first game,” Rivers told reporters before Tuesday’s matchup with the Brooklyn Nets. “When you look at how he played overall, he had a hell of a year and was going to have an even better year, but the injury thing caught him eight minutes into our first game and he never really recovered from that.”
Porter, 25, last appeared on March 17. Over 38 games, he averaged 17.4 points, 7.4 assists and 5.2 rebounds.
Rivers added that Porter expressed disappointment about his availability. “Man, I didn’t come through for you,” the guard told his coach Sunday, according to Rivers. “And I said, ‘No, you’re fine. You just got injured. It’s part of the game and it happens,’” Rivers recounted.
