Milwaukee Bucks guard Kevin Porter Jr. will not play Wednesday against the Oklahoma City Thunder after an MRI revealed a strained oblique, head coach Doc Rivers said Tuesday.

Rivers told reporters Porter “won’t be able to play anytime soon,” leaving the team without its starting shooting guard for an undetermined period. The 25-year-old has been trying to play through the injury in recent games.

Porter is averaging 16.8 points while shooting 44% this season, but his production has dipped to 8.0 points on 26% shooting over the past four contests. He came off the bench for the first time this year during Monday’s win over the Atlanta Hawks.

This is Porter’s second significant absence of the season. He hurt his ankle in the opener and missed 19 games, a stretch in which Milwaukee went 7-12.

The Bucks will also be without starting center Myles Turner on Wednesday because of a left ankle sprain. Rivers listed Turner as day-to-day.

“It’s been that way all year for us,” Rivers said of the string of injuries. “We’re not crying about it. We’ve got to keep trying to win games. It’s been tough getting a rhythm, but it is what it is. We’ll figure it out.”
