The Milwaukee Bucks have reached a four-year, $45 million fully guaranteed extension with guard AJ Green, agent Matt Bollero of ProMondo Sports told ESPN on Thursday.
Green, 26, is now under contract through the 2029-30 season, removing him from next summer’s free-agency pool. The Iowa native joined Milwaukee as an undrafted free agent in 2022, initially on a two-way deal before earning a standard contract and, now, a long-term commitment.
Head coach Doc Rivers has installed Green as the full-time starter heading into the new campaign. Last season, the 6-foot-4 guard produced 541 points after totaling 406 over his first two NBA seasons, averaging 7.4 points per game. A career 42% three-point shooter, he has connected on at least 40% from deep in each of his three years.
Although Green has only eight regular-season starts, he was inserted into Milwaukee’s lineup for a must-win Game 5 of the first round in April, posting 19 points in 46 minutes. He finished the postseason averaging 11.0 points while shooting 51% from beyond the arc and has opened this preseason with starts in all four contests.
According to ESPN Research, Green’s 42.7% three-point rate last season ranked sixth among players with 300 or more attempts, and his 44.9% mark on catch-and-shoot threes was fifth among those with at least 250 tries.
