The Milwaukee Bucks were knocked out of postseason contention Saturday after a 127-95 defeat to the San Antonio Spurs at Fiserv Forum, halting the franchise’s run of nine consecutive playoff berths.

Milwaukee’s skid leaves the Boston Celtics with the NBA’s longest active playoff streak at 11 seasons. The Bucks had reached the playoffs every year since 2017, a span that included the 2021 NBA championship.

Two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo missed his sixth straight game because of a left knee hyperextension and bone bruise. He has appeared in only 36 contests this season, a key factor in Milwaukee’s slide, which now includes nine losses in the past 11 outings.

Earlier this week, the National Basketball Players Association issued a statement that appeared to criticize any plan to sideline Antetokounmpo for the rest of the season, amid leaguewide debate over tanking and the NBA’s player participation policy.

San Antonio, meanwhile, earned its eighth consecutive victory and 13th in 14 games, moving within two games of the Western Conference-leading Oklahoma City Thunder. Rookie guard Stephon Castle recorded a triple-double with 22 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds, while MVP candidate Victor Wembanyama finished with 23 points, 15 rebounds and six assists.
