PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Trail Blazers announced Tuesday that guard Shaedon Sharpe has been diagnosed with a stress reaction in his left fibula and will be re-evaluated in four to six weeks.
The 22-year-old had already sat out the past six games because of a left calf strain. Follow-up imaging uncovered the additional injury, and the team said the projected timeline should provide adequate healing time before Sharpe begins a “progressive return to full basketball activity.”
Sharpe is Portland’s second-leading scorer this season, averaging 21.4 points along with 4.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists. He suffered the initial calf injury earlier this month during the first half of a 135-115 home win over the Memphis Grizzlies, a game that ended the Trail Blazers’ six-game losing streak.
Now in his fourth NBA season, Sharpe was selected seventh overall in the 2002 NBA draft.
