Chicago — Chicago Bulls head coach Billy Donovan is considering leaving the franchise after a challenging season, according to a report published Monday.

The New York Post story says Donovan, 60, could decide to walk away rather than return for a fifth year on the Bulls’ bench. No timetable for a final decision was disclosed.

Donovan, hired by Chicago in September 2020, guided the team to the playoffs once during his tenure. The latest campaign, marked by injuries and inconsistent play, ended with the Bulls outside the Eastern Conference postseason picture.

The franchise has not publicly commented on Donovan’s future. The coach is still under contract, but the report notes that stepping down remains an option he is actively weighing.

Donovan previously coached the Oklahoma City Thunder for five seasons and won two national championships at the University of Florida before moving to the NBA in 2015.
