MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards is no longer eligible for any of the NBA’s individual honors this season, the league confirmed Thursday.

The designation means the 22-year-old star will not be considered for awards such as Most Valuable Player, Defensive Player of the Year, Most Improved Player or any All-NBA teams.

The NBA did not publicly detail the circumstances behind Edwards’ disqualification. The Timberwolves have not issued a statement.

Edwards, the No. 1 pick in the 2020 draft, has been the focal point of Minnesota’s offense and an emerging face of the franchise. Despite the award setback, he remains eligible to compete in all remaining regular-season and postseason games.
