DALLAS — Dallas Mavericks forward/center Anthony Davis left Wednesday night’s 107-105 home win against the Indiana Pacers in the first quarter because of left lower-leg soreness, the team announced.

Davis appeared to hurt himself after scoring early in the period. With 4:12 remaining before the first timeout, he signaled to the bench, crouched near the sideline for several seconds, and then walked to the locker room for evaluation. The Mavericks ruled him out at halftime.

The 32-year-old had been listed as probable on the pregame injury report due to bilateral Achilles tendinopathy. He played only nine regular-season games for Dallas last year, arriving in the blockbuster Luka Doncic trade while recovering from an abdominal injury. Davis strained an adductor in his Mavericks debut, sidelining him an additional six weeks.

Head coach Jason Kidd’s lineup was already depleted. Kyrie Irving remains out indefinitely after tearing his ACL in March, Daniel Gafford has yet to debut this season because of a training-camp ankle sprain, and Dereck Lively II missed his second straight game with a sprained knee.

Dallas improved to 2-1 with Wednesday’s narrow victory, decided by a late defensive stop.
