WASHINGTON — Rookie forward Alex Sarr will miss the Washington Wizards’ remaining three games because of capsulitis in his left big toe, head coach Brian Keefe said Thursday.
The 7-foot Frenchman, selected No. 2 overall in the 2024 NBA draft, has already sat out six straight contests. Keefe acknowledged the tight schedule makes a return “probably unlikely.”
Washington owns the league’s worst record at 17-62 and closes the season against Miami on Friday and Cleveland on Sunday, following Thursday night’s matchup with Chicago.
Sarr averaged 16.3 points and 7.4 rebounds in 48 outings while dealing with several minor injuries throughout the year.
The Wizards listed 10 players as out for the Bulls game, including midseason trade acquisitions and All-Stars Trae Young (lower back, right quad) and Anthony Davis (left finger). Young and Davis have combined for just five appearances since arriving in Washington this winter.
