Free agent forward Jeremy Sochan intends to join the New York Knicks after he clears waivers, agent Deirunas Visockas of Gersh Sports told ESPN on Thursday.
The 22-year-old was released by the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday. According to Visockas, 10 teams expressed interest before Sochan opted for New York, which has been searching for additional wing depth ahead of the trade deadline. The agreement covers the remainder of the 2025-26 season.
Sochan, listed at 6-foot-8, averaged 10.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 25.3 minutes over 212 games during four-plus seasons with San Antonio. Selected ninth overall in the 2022 NBA draft, he appeared in the Rising Stars event in each of his first two years and was often tasked with primary defensive assignments.
His role with the Spurs diminished this season following the emergence of rookie forward Carter Bryant, the No. 14 pick in 2025. In 28 games this year, Sochan posted 4.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.0 assist while shooting 47.5% from the field.
San Antonio experimented with Sochan at point guard during Victor Wembanyama’s rookie campaign, a stretch that included a 31-point, 14-rebound outing.
