NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said Wednesday he wants both the WNBA and its players association to approach their ongoing labor dispute with what he called a “next-level sense of urgency.”
Silver’s comments, made public on Feb. 14, come as the two sides continue to navigate a contentious round of collective bargaining. While he did not detail specific sticking points, the commissioner stressed that accelerating the pace of negotiations is critical for the league’s long-term stability.
The WNBA and the WNBPA have been engaged in talks for months, but no agreement has been reached. Silver said league officials remain committed to finding common ground and urged players’ representatives to intensify discussions so that a new deal can be finalized without further delay.
Neither the WNBA nor the players association immediately responded to Silver’s remarks.
