PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid will be sidelined for a minimum of three games after an MRI on Saturday confirmed a strained right oblique, the team announced.
Embiid sustained the injury during Thursday night’s 124-117 win over the Miami Heat. He finished that game with 26 points and 11 rebounds.
The Sixers said Embiid will miss Sunday’s matchup in Boston. He is also expected to sit out consecutive home games on Tuesday and Wednesday, after which he will be re-evaluated.
The reigning MVP averaged 29.0 points in February, the highest mark in the Eastern Conference.
