NBC outlined Michael Jordan’s on-air duties as the network prepares to relaunch its NBA coverage, confirming that the Hall of Famer will headline a recurring feature titled “MJ: Insights to Excellence.”
The segment is scheduled to premiere Tuesday night during NBC’s season-opening doubleheader. Viewers first caught a glimpse of the collaboration Sunday, when a Sunday Night Football promo showed broadcaster Mike Tirico interviewing Jordan.
According to NBC, “MJ: Insights to Excellence” will appear throughout the 2025-26 season, with Jordan offering prerecorded commentary on the league and its players. CNBC reporter Alex Sherman noted that the pieces will run primarily during pregame and halftime shows.
The role marks Jordan’s first formal involvement in NBA broadcasting since he retired from playing more than 20 years ago. Though limited to taped segments, the six-time champion’s presence is expected to draw significant attention, as he has seldom spoken publicly about the modern game.
