ATLANTA — All-Defensive guard Dyson Daniels has reached a four-year, $100 million rookie extension with the Atlanta Hawks, agent Daniel Moldovan of Lighthouse Sports Management confirmed on Oct. 20, 2025.

The agreement rewards the 22-year-old after a breakout 2024-25 campaign in which he captured NBA Most Improved Player honors, finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting and earned First Team All-Defense. Daniels recorded 229 steals last season, the league’s highest single-season total since Gary Payton collected 231 in 1995-96.

Selected eighth overall in the 2022 draft, the 6-foot-7 guard boosted his scoring average from 5.8 points in 2023-24 to 14.1 points last season. He also contributed 5.9 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 3.0 steals per game, becoming the first player to average at least three steals since Alvin Robertson in 1990-91.

The Hawks acquired Daniels and a future first-round pick from the New Orleans Pelicans in July 2024 in exchange for Dejounte Murray. His defensive presence alongside star point guard Trae Young has helped anchor Atlanta’s backcourt rotation.

Daniels now joins forward Jalen Johnson and 2024 No. 1 overall pick Zaccharie Risacher as key long-term pieces for the Hawks.
