The Phoenix Suns have waived forward Sean McDermott and wing Nathan Mariano, completing their roster moves ahead of the 2025-26 regular season.
The team released both players on October 18, one day after signing them to Exhibit 10 contracts. McDermott, 28, last appeared in the NBA with the Memphis Grizzlies during the 2020-21 campaign, playing 18 games on a two-way deal. Since then, the former Butler standout spent multiple seasons with the G League’s Memphis Hustle and continued his career overseas in Italy and Turkey.
Mariano, 22, is a 6-foot-9 wing who has played professionally for Franca in his native Brazil.
Because their deals included Exhibit 10 language, both players are expected to join the Valley Suns of the NBA G League, where they can earn bonuses of up to $85,300 by remaining with the affiliate for at least 60 days.
Following the cuts, Phoenix holds 14 standard contracts and three two-way contracts. The club still has one open spot on the 15-man roster but is not expected to fill it immediately, as it is already slightly above the luxury-tax threshold.
