The Boston Celtics released forward Hason Ward and wing Aaron Scott from their Exhibit 10 contracts on Saturday, according to the NBA’s official transaction log. The club also completed a sign-and-waive move with guard RJ Luis, placing him back on waivers the same day.

After the transactions, Boston’s regular-season roster stands at 14 players on standard contracts. Twelve of those deals are fully guaranteed, while forward Jordan Walsh and center Neemias Queta hold partial guarantees. All three two-way slots are occupied.

The Celtics are not expected to fill the 15th standard roster spot early in the season because adding another player would push the team further into luxury-tax territory and significantly increase its financial penalties.

Ward, Scott and Luis are expected to join the Maine Celtics, Boston’s G League affiliate. Each player can earn a bonus of up to $85,300, in addition to the standard G League salary, by spending at least 60 days with the affiliate.

This is the second time in October that Luis has been waived by Boston. The Celtics needed to re-sign him to an Exhibit 10 deal before releasing him again to ensure his eligibility for the G League bonus.
