The Toronto Raptors have reached a new two-way agreement with guard A.J. Lawson, the club announced Saturday.
Lawson, 25, had been part of the team’s training-camp roster but was waived on Thursday. The Toronto native, who owns three years of NBA experience, first joined the Raptors on a two-way deal last December and was elevated to a multiyear standard contract in April. His 2025/26 salary was non-guaranteed, and the front office opted to waive him to preserve financial flexibility under the current cap and tax structure.
In 26 appearances last season, Lawson averaged 9.1 points and 3.3 rebounds across 18.7 minutes, shooting 42.1 percent from the field, 32.7 percent from three-point range and 68.3 percent at the foul line. He has also logged time with Dallas and Minnesota.
Toronto had one open two-way slot, so no additional roster moves are required. The Raptors carry 14 guaranteed contracts on their standard roster and are expected to begin the season one spot shy of the 15-man limit.
