The Sacramento Kings have exercised the third-year team option on guard Devin Carter, the club announced on Oct. 14.

The decision guarantees the former first-round pick a $5,158,080 salary for the 2026/27 campaign. Sacramento had until Oct. 31 to make the call under rookie-scale contract rules.

The next milestone in Carter’s contract comes next fall, when the Kings must decide whether to pick up his $7,370,896 fourth-year option for the 2027/28 season.

Chosen 13th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft, Carter appeared in 36 games as a rookie, averaging 3.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists across 11.0 minutes per contest. He missed a portion of the 2024/25 season after undergoing left shoulder surgery in July 2024.

Carter was reportedly included in at least one trade package Sacramento proposed to the Golden State Warriors in its unsuccessful bid to acquire forward Jonathan Kuminga earlier this summer.
