The Golden State Warriors have contacted the Chicago Bulls to discuss guard Josh Giddey and to explore whether a sign-and-trade centered on forward Jonathan Kuminga might be possible, NBA insider Jake Fischer said during a Bleacher Report livestream.
According to Fischer, several clubs have checked in on Giddey’s restricted free-agency status, but Golden State is the only team specifically linked to a Giddey-for-Kuminga framework. Kuminga is also a restricted free agent and has yet to make progress on a new deal with the Warriors.
Fischer noted that Chicago has told rival front offices it is not interested in sign-and-trade scenarios and does not intend to part with Giddey after acquiring him for Alex Caruso earlier in the offseason without receiving draft compensation.
Even so, the possibility of Kuminga eventually landing in Chicago has not been ruled out. Fischer reported that Kuminga’s representatives believe the Bulls could emerge as a major suitor next summer if the forward accepts his one-year qualifying offer and reaches unrestricted free agency, when Chicago is projected to have significant cap space.
